about

Soundtrack for a contemporary circus theater piece:
DANSE MACABRE - The Attempt of Vertical Return

Circus staging of moments after the death of the human body...

production: Cirkorama 2014.

***************************************

“Each one of us dies alone and dies completely, most people do not accept these two truths, so they are lulled into living and scared of waking up when the moment of ruin comes”
Albert Caraco “Breviary of Chaos”

What happens when our bodily functions stop? What happens to our consciousness? Is it momentarily extinguished, does it leave the body shortly after the body died or does it remain active in the form of energy particles? Unilaterally approaching the assumption that we retain life and feel alive for a certain period of time, we set off on an imaginary exploration of the dying subconscious. We gave it five different addresses/bodies which it remembers, to fulfil a single need – the will to live; and a living being – to play with life.
Take all of this with notice: This is not reality; this is just a memory...

“Danse Macabre– The Attempt of Vertical Return” is based the performances of air acrobatics and ground improvisations by 6 of Cirkorama's students, and it is the result of an intermittent one-year physical exploration.
